John L. Swan, M.D., our Senior corneal surgeon, is the most experienced fellowship-trained corneal surgeon in Central Alabama. As Assistant Instructor in Cornea and External Disease for the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and in private practice, he has over 15 years of experience in all types of corneal surgery, including refractive surgery. He was the first ophthalmologist in Montgomery to perform laser vision correction surgery, including PRK, LASIK, CustomVue and IntraLase. He has performed thousands of laser vision correction procedures. In addition to LASIK, he performs CK (conductive keratoplasty) and Clear Lens Exchange for farsighted patients over the age of 45. Twice he has been named one of the Top 100 LASIK Surgeons in the country.

In C. Shin, M.D., is a fellowship-trained corneal specialist.         Dr. Shin is experienced in a wide range of eye care services including cataract, vision correction surgery, eye tumors, glaucoma and diabetic care, and comprehensive eye care.

Dr. Shin graduated magna cum laude in engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1999.

Blending his engineering background with his medical specialty, Dr. Shin has researched and designed several ophthalmic devices, which are still under development. Originally from Korea, Dr. Shin is a naturalized citizen.
